A common problem when using Web 2.0 applications is the need for students to provide an email address. Often student do not have an email account or the account they have is not accessible at school. There are a couple os possible solutions to this problem.

MailCatch is an email service that allows you to create temporary disposable mailboxes, in a completely anonymous way. No sign up is required AND you can receive email but CANNOT send email. If students need a temporary email account to allow confirmation when creating a user account for Web 2.0 tools, this is a great solution. Students simply give whatever mailbox name you assign on the mailcatch.com domain (like maryb_4thblock@mailcatch.com). They go to the site, type in the mailbox name and check for an email confirmation. No registration is required. Users do not need to sign-in to check their email, users just enter the email account name in the field and they can see their email. All email storage is temporary and is automatically deleted after a couple of hours.
